 Tarbert  Loch Fyne

There are some lovely destinations in The Firth of Clyde.

Rothesay is the closest harbour on the island of Bute and can make an excellent first night stop over.

The Kyles of Bute are very pleasant to explore on your way to Tarbert and Loch Fyne.  Caladh Harbour, in the Kyles of Bute is just one of the examples of the picturesque anchorages that you can discover in the Clyde Area. Do stop there for lunch if you have a chance.

Tarbert is a lovely place to visit with good shore facilities and a character all of it’s own.

Most sailors visit Arran where there are well sheltered bays with mooring bouys available. Lamlash, Brodick, and Lochranza are all excellent places to visit.

Further down the Clyde, Campletown is a favourite destination.

On the Ayrshire coast there is a good selection of Marinas with Kip, Ardrossan, and Troon with Girvan a possibility (subject to dredging !)  for those who wish visit and enjoy “Burns Country”

All in All, The Clyde offers the sailor a vast sheltered cruising ground,

Stretching from Arrocher, Loch Long in the North to “Sanda” & Loch Ryan in the South.

You won’t be disappointed !

If you wish to go further, then you can visit Northern Island. Bangor, Belfast, Ballycastle and Rathlin Island are all great places to visit by boat.

Progressing round the  “Mull of Kintyre” if you have the time and the weather then Port Ellen makes a good stopover and a great destination for visiting the whisky distilleries. (They even have their own moorings !)

The West Coast of Scotland.

The West Coast of Scotland is a very attractive proposition and suitable for longer charters. We have positioned Midnight Mirage to many of the Ports, Anchorages & Marinas, including Crinan, Croabh Haven, Kerrera (over the water from Oban) Arisaig and Mallaig. This year you will be able to Charter most of our boats from Largs, Oban Dunstaffnage, or further afield on the West Coast.

You can included the Isle of Mull and Skye whist cruising on your travels and will really have a chance to experience the most wonderful scenery and the fascinating wildlife of this part of Scotland. One way charters from Largs are occasionally available with easy access to the West through the Crinan Canal which in it’s own right is a most scenic and enjoyable experience. It is well worth spending at least one night in the Canal, if you have the time. Sailing round the Mull of Kintyre is an option, but if the weather is poor be ready to go through the Crinan Canal. Enjoy!

We have had the occasional charter where the destination or the start point has been Arisaig or Mallaig. If you want it and we can make it work then it is yours !

Mallaig & Arisaig are served by rail from London & Glasgow. There is a superb sleeper service that operates from London and is great for Oban and Mallaig.
